Yumi is originally a Steppe born Xaela, born to an intentionall unnamed and unknown tribe in the Steppe. Following an exile, she travelled through Doma during the Garlean Invasion and was wounded severely. After recovering in Hingashi and doing odd jobs in Eorzea, eventually settled into security work for a brothel in Thanalan.After suspiciously rising through the ranks with ease to General Management and Ownership, her investment took her back to the East, to Shirogane where the Mikoshi's Rest opened its doors anew with Yumi at the helm.
